![]() Widmann's decision to choose the Tigers over the Bears will come full circle on Saturday, when the teams begin play in a best-of-three NCAA Super Regional on campus in Waco. "I think it is hard to find middle infielders that are going to slip through the draft that are talented enough and have the right makeup to play at this level. I knew he was a guy that could play for Jack (Leggett). I feel extremely lucky that he chose to go to school here because I think he is the perfect fit to come in here and play as a freshman. "Obviously he had talked to his parents about doing that. "I was a little nervous," O'Sullivan admitted. ![]() The Tigers were going head-to-head with Baylor, which is located in Waco, about an hour from Widmann's house, and O'Sullivan said he wasn't thinking good thoughts when Widmann called. Widmann retells the story matter of factly, but O'Sullivan said he was far less confident about Clemson's chances at the time. "I left the house and decided to tell (him) that I wanted to come here and that was that. "I just went to the high school ballfield and called Sully," Widmann said. Bell High School and called Clemson pitching coach Kevin O'Sullivan, who was recruiting him. His parents weren't so sure, but Widmann knew what he wanted. LmAfter returning to Hurst, Texas, from his official visit to Clemson last year, Widmann decided he wanted to move across the country and play baseball for the Tigers.
